About The Event
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a constellation of hormonal and metabolic symptoms. Symptoms of PCOS may include irregular periods, excessive facial hair growth, acne, weight gain, skin tags and darkening of the skin. Women with PCOS have higher rates of infertility and increased risks for chronic health conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Though up to 10% of all women are effected by PCOS, the syndrome is too often misunderstood and under-treated by health care providers. These monthly "Positively PCOS" discussion groups will cover the whos, whats, wheres, whys and hows of PCOS. This is a safe place to share emotional support and find your positive mindset.
The discussion will be moderated by Carina A. Ryder, CNM, who has over 20 years of experience working in women's health.
