Insurance and Payment
At Takoma Park Gynecology, we offer GYN services that place a premium on time and relationship-based medical care. To provide this level of individualized medical attention, we see fewer patients per day. As such, we are out-of-network for all commercial insurances, but do accept Medicare. If you have commercial insurance, payment in full is expected at the time of your visit. If your insurance has out-of-network benefits and you provide us with your insurance details we are happy to submit the claim as an out of network provider on your behalf. The amount of reimbursement you receive depends on the contract you have with your health insurance carrier. Questions about your insurance benefits are best directed to your insurance carrier's customer service department, or your employer's HR department. Most lab work including blood tests, can be done here in the office and can be billed directly to your insurance

Prescription Refills and Renewals
The process of prescription refills and renewals has been made increasingly difficult. This is due to insurance companies, middlemen, pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) and retail pharmacies making it more and more complicated for us to get you the prescriptions you need. In order to get your prescriptions refilled we ask for your help. The ways in which you can help with your prescriptions include;
-
Checking for discount coupons on the product's website.
-
Checking for third party coupons online or on your phone. Often apps such as GoodRx, SingleCare and RxSaver may have prices lower than your prescription coverage copays. These apps are easily downloaded for both apple and android phones.
-
Check out discount outlets such as Walmart and Costco as many pharmaceutical products (particularly generic products) have low prices at these outlets.
-
Ask if we have samples in the office that can either tide you over or stretch your prescription.
-
Often manufacturers give us co-pay cards or discount codes for their products. Ask us if we have any for the medications you take. Please note that even if we have them, this doesn't guarantee that this is the lowest cost option or that the pharmacy with know how to process them.

Prescription Refill Timeline;

If is up to you to notify the office in a timely manner when prescription renewals are necessary. If you need refills and your prescription has not expired, please contact your pharmacy. They are able to send us a request by fax and as such you do not need to contact our office. If you do need to contact our office please understand that approvals may take time due to all the above mentioned factors. We ask you follow these procedures when requesting prescriptions refills;

-
We will refill prescriptions during office hours for established patients who have been seen within the last 12 months. All prescriptions require a follow up appointment (3/6/12months) depending on the prescription type. If you are overdue for your appointment, we will not be able to authorize your prescription for refill or renewal.
-
After reviewing your record, refills will be sent directly to your pharmacy. Electronic refill requests may take up to 72 business hours to be completed, however prescriptions will be approved as soon as possible, If you use mail order pharmacies please contact us at least 14 days before you medication is due to run out due to the added mail delivery time factor.
